At 525 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Castle Hayne, or 9 miles northwest of Figure Eight Island, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Surf City, Figure Eight Island, Hampstead, Topsail Beach, Mayfaire, Cape Fear Community College North Campus, Wrightsboro, Wilmington International Airport, Murrayville, Topsail, Castle Hayne, Windemere, Bayshore, Scotts Hill, Ogden, Porters Neck, Landfall, and Kings Grant. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between mile markers 410 and 416. Interstate 140 between mile markers 17 and 20.
