Central Pamlico County in eastern North Carolina...
* Until 500 PM EDT.
* At 444 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Merritt, or
16 miles east of James City, moving east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Florence, Whortonsville, Nc Pamlico, Maribel, Merritt, Bayboro,
Alliance, and Stonewall.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office
in Newport at 1-800-889-6889.
Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread
significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately
likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of
a building. This storm may cause serious injury and significant
property damage.
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
