Eastern Graham County in western North Carolina... * Until 430 PM EDT. * At 333 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles southwest of Bryson City, moving northwest at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines. * Locations impacted include... Robbinsville, Luada, Wesser, Stecoah, Almond, Nantahala, Alarka, Cheoah, Smoky Mountains-Fontana Area, and Fontana Lake.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Brief damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines over small areas. A brief period of large hail is also possible. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. If on or near Fontana Lake, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm.
