At 406 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles east of Robbinsville, or 6 miles southeast of Fontana Lake, moving northwest at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines. Locations impacted include... Robbinsville, Wesser, Stecoah, Almond, Nantahala, Cheoah, Smoky Mountains-Fontana Area, and Fontana Lake.
Instruction: 
Brief damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines over small areas. A brief period of large hail is also possible. Seek shelter inside an interior room. If on or near Fontana Lake, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
