Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas,
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes and Surry,
Virginia, including the following areas, Appomattox, Bedford,
Bland, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte, Floyd, Franklin, Giles,
Grayson, Halifax, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania,
Pulaski, Roanoke, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe, and southeast West
Virginia, including the following area, Mercer.
* WHEN...Through Monday evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- An upper level low has been cut off across the region, which
has led to extremely slow storm motions areawide. PWATs in
the 1.8 to 2.1 inch range will lead to very efficient
rainfall rates, and heavy rainfall potential. Ongoing shower
and thunderstorm activity has already resulted in several
flood advisories and a couple flash flood warnings today.
Additional localized totals may exceed 3-4 inches in the
flood watch area.
