Description:
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures 100 to 102
degrees, and 101 to 105 in the Columbia Basin possible. This will
pose a moderate to major risk of heat-related illness.
* WHERE...Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Oregon and Washington,
Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon and Washington, Foothills of the
Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon, Yakima Valley, and Foothills of
the Blue Mountains of Washington.
* WHEN...From Tuesday morning through Thursday evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heat will begin on Tuesday, with
widespread moderate and locally major HeatRisk.
Wednesday looks to be the hottest day, with Major HeatRisk across
the Columbia Basin, Yakima VAlley and portions of the Gorge and Blue
Mountain Foothills.
Thursday will also see widespread moderate HeatRisk and locally
major HeatRisk, mainly across the Columbia Basin.
Instruction:
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this
situation. Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an
air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives
and neighbors.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot
weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter
of minutes.
