Description:
At 450 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles west of
Downtown Greenville, or over Welcome, moving southwest at 10 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
damage to trees and power lines.
Locations impacted include...
Greenville, Easley, West Greenville, Berea, Welcome, Powdersville,
Furman University, Cherrydale Point, and Piedmont.
Instruction:
Brief damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines over small
areas. A brief period of large hail is also possible. Seek shelter
inside an interior room.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
