* Until 500 PM EDT.
* At 402 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from
26 miles north of Saint Stephen to 9 miles northwest of Ulmer,
moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Moncks Corner, Saint George, Dorchester, Saint Stephen,
Harleyville, Bonneau, Reevesville, Jamestown, Cross and Southern
Lake Moultrie.
This includes the following highways...
I-26 between mile markers 171 and 193. I-95 in South Carolina between
mile markers 73 and 85.
Instruction:
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds.
Wind damage with these storms will occur before any rain or
lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover.
Seek shelter immediately inside a sturdy structure and stay away from
windows.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms. Do not drive
your vehicle through flooded roadways.
If on or near Lake Moultrie, get away from the water and move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be
caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
