* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...West Nueces River at Brackettville.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow morning.
* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Major lowland flooding four hundred yards
wide cuts off livestock and equipment in the flood plain. Flow is
to the entrance platform of the gauge house. Many secondary and
primary roads downstream are impassable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- There is no current observed data.
- Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river will fall below flood stage this evening
to 10.4 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then rise
to 13.0 feet tomorrow morning. It will fall to 2.8 feet early
Monday afternoon. It will then rise to 4.1 feet early Tuesday
morning. It will fall again and remain below flood stage.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
20.0 feet on 08/25/1998.

Instruction:
Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground.
