...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Texas... Frio River Near Derby affecting Frio County. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Frio River near Derby. * WHEN...Until Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Major flooding reaches lowest homes and businesses downstream in Tilden. Hundreds of livestock are trapped and potentially drowned in low areas of the flood plain near Derby to Choke Canyon Reservoir. Major flooding of crop and pasture land near the river inundates oil well pump jacks and irrigation pumps. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM CDT Friday the stage was 17.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 PM CDT Friday was 17.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.0 feet tomorrow morning. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings.
