Frio River Near Derby affecting Frio County. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Frio River near Derby. * WHEN...Until early Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Major flooding reaches lowest homes and businesses downstream in Tilden. Hundreds of livestock are trapped and potentially drowned in low areas of the flood plain near Derby to Choke Canyon Reservoir. Major flooding of crop and pasture land near the river inundates oil well pump jacks and irrigation pumps. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:30 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 20.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 3:30 PM CDT Saturday was 20.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Tuesday afternoon and continue falling to 1.4 feet early Thursday afternoon. - Flood stage is 6.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
