Frio River Near Derby affecting Frio County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Frio River near Derby. * WHEN...Until late Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Major flooding reaches lowest homes and businesses downstream in Tilden. Hundreds of livestock are trapped and potentially drowned in low areas of the flood plain near Derby to Choke Canyon Reservoir. Major flooding of crop and pasture land near the river inundates oil well pump jacks and irrigation pumps. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 16.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 AM CDT Sunday was 19.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late Tuesday morning and continue falling to -0.3 feet Friday morning. - Flood stage is 6.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 17.3 feet on 05/31/1987. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
