Description:
At 447 PM MDT, Sevier County Emergency Management reported ongoing
flash flooding and debris flows in drainages within Monroe Canyon
and portions of Monroe Creek.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar has resulted in flash flooding
and debris flows moving through the Monroe Canyon. The debris flows
can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Rainfall from earlier
thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the
Monroe Canyon Burn Scar, specifically within Monroe
Canyon.

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall from earlier
thunderstorms will continue to cause extensive and severe flash
flooding of creeks and streams in the Monroe Canyon Burn Scar.
Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and
driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood
waters...climb to safety.
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry washes is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
