Description: 
At 417 PM MDT, Piute County emergency management reported flash flooding with a muddy/ashy flow out of Ten Mile Canyon at HW 89 near mp 174. Between 0.3 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar has resulted in a debris flow moving through Ten Mile Canyon within the warning area. Additional flows remain likely originating out of Cottonwood Canyon moving forward. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Cottonwood Burn Scar in Piute County. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Cottonwood Burn Scar. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cottonwood Canyon and Ten Mile Canyon downstream to US 89

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches in the Cottonwood Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to safety. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
