Description:
At 235 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over North
Chittenden, moving southeast at 45 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Rutland, Woodstock, Sudbury, Killington, Rutland City, Mt. Holly,
Rutland - Southern Vermont Airport, Pomfret, Plymouth, Chittenden,
Clarendon, West Rutland, Whiting, Goshen, Barnard, Mount Holly,
Hubbardton, Shrewsbury, Stockbridge, and Proctor.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Boaters on Lake Champlain should seek safe harbor now! Strong winds
will cause higher waves and sudden wind shifts may overturn boats.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
