At 112 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Shawsville, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Heavy rain will result in ponding of water on roadways and standing water in low lying areas. The duration of heavy rain may last 20 to 30 minutes. Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Roanoke... Salem... Vinton... Boones Mill... Copper Hill... Shawsville... and Bent Mountain.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage.
