Description:
At 215 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Huddleston to Western Smith Mountain Lake.
Movement was east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Heavy rain will result in ponding of water on roadways and
standing water in low lying areas. The duration of heavy
rain may last 10 to 15 minutes. Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

and Southern Smith Mountain Lake.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in

minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoid
hydroplaning.
