Description:
At 356 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain in much of McDowell County and in northern Buchanan County.
Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall
amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash
flooding was already reported, including in Hurley.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Gary, War, Bradshaw, Iaeger, Jolo, Avondale, Panther, Coalwood,
Stacy, Cucumber, Hurley, Roseann and Elbert.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
