...RED FLAG WARNING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY SATURDAY
FOR MUCH OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST...
* Affected Area: Okanogan Highlands and Kettle Mountains (Zone
699), Selkirk Mountains of Northeast Washington (Zone 700) and
Methow Valley (Zone 704).
* Winds: Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts around 20 to 30
mph. Winds shifting northwesterly Saturday evening for the
Methow Valley.
* Relative Humidities: 14 to 25 percent.
* Impacts: Gusty winds and low humidity Saturday may lead to
rapid fire spread with any new or ongoing fires.
Instruction:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
