Description:
At 602 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms produced heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in
the warned area from lighter rainfall moving into the warned area.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. There have
been several reports of flash flooding, mainly along route 21 in
southern Jackson County.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Ripley, Kenna, Given, Fairplain, Evans, Statts Mills and
Cottageville.
This includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 123
and 143.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
