At 559 pm National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms moving southeast across Lake Erie. This line is expected to move across the area between 7:30 pm and 9 pm this evening. Strong wind gusts up to 50 mph and small hail are likely in some of these storms. Minnesota Special Weather Statement | Effective 05/09/2026 14:29

Dry conditions and gusty winds will create near-critical to critical fire weather conditions today from the Brainerd Lakes east to the I-35 corridor. Northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 25 mph are forecast for this afternoon into the evening. Minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 25 percent are also expected. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fires. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for southern Cass County and areas east to the I-35 corridor until early evening.
