Description:
* WHAT...Blizzard conditions occurring reducing visibility to 1/4
mile. Additional snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Winds gusting
between 40 and 50 mph with isolated gusts 60 to 70 mph. Wind chill
values 10 below to 20 below zero.
* WHERE...Southern Alaska Peninsula, including Cold Bay, False Pass,
and Sand Point.
* WHEN...Until 6 AM AKDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one quarter mile or less due to
blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. Strong winds could
cause extensive damage to power lines.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Due to the showery nature of these heavy snow
showers produced by the clouds streaming off the ice edge,
conditions can vary greatly over a short distance.
Instruction:
A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel very hazardous. If you must travel, have a
winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your
vehicle.
