At 246 PM MDT, blowing dust was located in the Roswell area. Localized areas of near zero visibility are possible near dust source regions. HAZARD...Less than one half mile visibility with strong wind in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported several road closures due to blowing dust, including the Roswell Relief Route between Sunset and Brasher and along US 285 near Roswell. IMPACT...Hazardous travel. This includes the following highways... Highway 285 between Mile Markers 79 and 143. Highway 380 between Mile Markers 156 and 182. Locations impacted include... Roswell, Dexter, Hagerman, Bitter Lake Wildlife Refuge, Elkins, Bottomless Lakes State Park, Lake Arthur, Greenfield, Roswell Correctional Facility, and Midway.

Blowing dust creates reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!
