Description:
At 753 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated light to moderate rain
falling across much of southern South Carolina as Tropical Storm
Helene exits the area. Flash flooding is ongoing.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Downtown
Charleston, James Island, Fort Sumter, Daniel Island, West Ashley
and I-26/I-526 Interchange.
The heaviest rainfall has moved out of the warned area, however
additional light showers are possible through the morning. Flooding
is ongoing across the Downtown Charleston Peninsula with numerous
road closures still in effect.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
