Mecklenburg County in the piedmont of North Carolina... Union NC County in the piedmont of North Carolina... * Until 200 PM EDT. * At 1050 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain has fallen across Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Union (NC) counties. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, with little additional rainfall expected. Rocky River above Irish Buffalo Creek is at 17.5 feet and rising which is leading to ongoing nuisance flooding in the area. Other nearby small streams are likely bankfull or out of their banks. Significant flooding appears to be ongoing, resulting in road closures, first-floor inundation, and damage to some structures. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
