The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Western Amelia County in central Virginia...
Nottoway County in south central Virginia...
* Until 400 AM EDT.
* At 113 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen in the past 40 minutes, with over 3 inches of
rain in spots since last evening. The expected rainfall rate is 1
to 1.5 inches in 30 minutes through 2 AM. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Blackstone, Crewe, Amelia Courthouse, Nottoway, Burkeville,
Jetersville, Morven, Fergusonville, Maplewood, Jennings Ordinary,
Denaro, Clay Store, Truxillo, Deatonville, Paineville, Winterham,
Oliveville, Lodore, Irby and The Falls.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
