Description:
At 324 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated a downward
trend in heavy rain over the Kau District of the Big Island with
rain rates generally less than 1 inch per hour. However, emergency
management officials continue to report multiple road closures
across the Puna and Kau Districts due to localized flash flooding.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Emergency management.
IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible
in steep terrain.

Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Wood
Valley, Pahala, Volcano, Punaluu Beach, Glenwood, Kawa Flats,
Mountain View, Naalehu, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidlands Estates,
Keaau, Pahoa, Hawaiian Ocean View, Fern Forest, Eden Roc, Fern
Acres and Waiohinu.
Instruction:
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
