The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County
* Until 745 AM HST.
* At 426 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges continue to show a
downward trend in heavy rain over the Puna and Kau District of the
Big Island, with rain rates generally less than 1 inch per hour.
However, emergency management officials continue to report
multiple road closures across the warning area due to localized
flash flooding.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Emergency management.
IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are
possible in steep terrain.

Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Wood
Valley, Pahala, Volcano, Punaluu Beach, Glenwood, Kawa Flats,
Mountain View, Naalehu, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidlands Estates,
Keaau, Pahoa, Hawaiian Ocean View, Fern Forest, Eden Roc, Fern
Acres and Waiohinu.
Instruction:
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
