Description:
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Central and eastern Sangamon County.
* WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 449 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen in 1
hour.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Springfield, Chatham, Auburn, Rochester, Riverton, Loami,
Mechanicsburg, Dawson, Buffalo, Illinois State Fairgrounds,
Jerome, Southern View, Leland Grove, Grandview, Spaulding,
Thayer, Clear Lake, Glenarm and Lowder.
Instruction:
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
