Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
following county, Currituck and southeast Virginia, including the
following county and independent cities, City of Chesapeake, City
of Hampton, City of Newport News, City of Norfolk, City of
Poquoson, City of Portsmouth, City of Suffolk, City of Virginia
Beach and Isle of Wight.
* WHEN...Until 245 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1143 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
Between 0.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.

Virginia Beach, Newport News, Hampton, Smithfield, Great
Bridge, Regent University, Kempsville, Virginia Wesleyan
University, Norfolk State University, Downtown Norfolk,
Downtown Portsmouth, Deep Creek, Old Dominion University,
Ocean View, Churchland, Hampton University, Langley AFB,
Christopher Newport University, Grandy and Norfolk.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

enforcement when you can do so safely. Request that they pass this
information to the National Weather Service.
