* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Virginia, including the following counties, in central Virginia, Amelia, Cumberland and Prince Edward. In south central Virginia, Lunenburg and Nottoway. * WHEN...Until 330 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1218 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain has fallen in the past hour. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area through 130 AM. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.
