Description:
* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Illinois,
including the following counties, in south central Illinois,
Clinton, Marion and central Washington. In southwest Illinois,
Saint Clair.
* WHEN...Until 745 PM CST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
River or stream flows are elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 142 PM CST, emergency management reported heavy rain in
the advisory area due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban
and small stream flooding. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen, resulting in water over the road in Salem, IL.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Belleville, O'Fallon, East St. Louis, Fairview Heights,
Swansea, Centralia, Shiloh, Salem, Mascoutah, Centreville,
Breese, Lebanon, Freeburg, Millstadt, New Baden, Carlyle,
Scott AFB, Smithton, Trenton and New Athens.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
