Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
* WHERE...The island of Oahu in Honolulu County.
* WHEN...Until 800 AM HST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in
streams.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 502 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over east Oahu,
with additional showers to the southeast. The heaviest rain
has been over the Koolau Mountains where rain was falling at
a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Expect the showers upstream
of Oahu to fill in over leeward sections through the morning
hours.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Honolulu, Waipio, Mililani, Pearl City, Waikele, Wahiawa,
Wheeler Field, Waipahu, Aiea, Kunia, Halawa, Waiahole,
Waikane, Schofield Barracks, Salt Lake, Kahaluu, Moanalua,
Ahuimanu, Iroquois Point and Ewa Beach.
Instruction:
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.
