* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central South Carolina, including the following counties, Calhoun, Clarendon, Kershaw, Orangeburg, Richland and Sumter. * WHEN...Until 1215 AM EST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1019 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Columbia, Sumter, Forest Acres, Shaw Air Base, McEntire Air Base, South Sumter, Dentsville, St. Matthews, Elgin, Summerton, Bowman, Eastover, Elloree, Poinsett State Park, Gadsden, Oakland, Millwood, Horrel Hill, Hopkins and Sumter County Airport. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 95 between mile markers 97 and 107. Interstate 26 between mile markers 150 and 164. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 75 and 96. Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown. Flooded roadways are nearly impossible to see at night.
