Description:
After a brief break in rainfall overnight, heavy rainfall is
returning Tuesday morning across the southern panhandle. The
previous heavy rainfall has resulted in minor flooding near the
Thorne River. The heavier rain will continue into Monday afternoon
before diminishing Tuesday night.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Thorne River, especially near the Thorne River Bridge.
* WHEN...Until 900 PM AKST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 527 AM AKST, river gauge reports indicate rises in water
levels from heavy rain in areas around the Thorne River
bridge. Minor flooding is ongoing with the Thorne River
currently near minor flood stage. Over 3 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
possible.
- For Thorne River near Thorne Bay:
At 4:00pm the stage was 12.4 feet.
Flood Stage is 12.5 feet.
Impacts:
At 12.5 feet: Water will begin to flow over the road upstream
from the Thorne River bridge.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
