...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Illinois...Missouri...Kentucky...
Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau affecting Cape Girardeau,
Alexander, Union, Jackson, Scott and Perry Counties.
Mississippi River at New Madrid affecting New Madrid, Fulton and
Mississippi Counties.
Mississippi River at Thebes affecting Scott and Alexander
Counties.
...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Kentucky...
Mississippi River near Hickman affecting Fulton County.
.Heavy rainfall has ended across the region. The Mississippi River
is already above flood stage in some locations and others will rise
above through today. Crests on the Mississippi River will occur in
the next 7 to 10 days.
For the Mississippi River...including Cape Girardeau, Thebes,
Hickman, New Madrid...Major flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Mississippi River near Hickman.
* WHEN...Until further notice.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 12:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 39.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 46.5
feet Thursday morning.
- Flood stage is 34.0 feet.
Instruction:
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
