Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of western Kentucky, including the following
counties, Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall and
McCracken and southeast Missouri, including the following
counties, Mississippi and New Madrid.
* WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT Monday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Significant
flooding remains on the Bayou de Chien, Mayfield Creek, Clarks
River, Obion Creek and other local tributaries.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 908 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 13 and 14 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Paducah, Sikeston, Mayfield, Charleston, Benton,
Portageville, East Prairie, New Madrid, Cairo, Calvert City,
Fulton, Hickman, Clinton, Lilbourn, La Center, Bardwell,
Wickliffe, Towosahgy State Historic Site, Big Oak Tree State
Park and Lone Oak.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
