Neuse River At Smithfield affecting Johnston County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neuse River near Clayton. * WHEN...Until tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. Minor overflow occurs on both banks. Water reaches the edge of the Neuse River Greenway trail. At 10.0 feet, Upstream of the gage site, the Neuse River Greenway at Covered Bridge Road begins to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 9.6 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:15 PM EDT Tuesday was 9.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 9.6 feet just after midnight tonight.
