* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of western New York, including the following county, Allegany. * WHEN...Until 1230 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 836 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring. Between 1.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are possible in the warned area. The Genesee River will rapidly rise, but is not expected to reach flood stage. However, other slower responding tributaries still may continue to rise for hours after the rain has ended. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
