...The National Weather Service in Blacksburg VA has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Virginia...
New River AT Allisonia affecting Pulaski and Wythe Counties.
New River Near Galax affecting Carroll, Grayson and City of Galax
independent cities.
New River At Radford affecting Pulaski, Montgomery and City of
Radford independent cities.
For the New River at Galax, major flooding is forecast. For the New
River at Allisonia and Radford...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...New River at Allisonia.
* WHEN...From late tonight to Sunday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Several summer homes along the river are
flooded with possibly significant damage.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:30 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 4.8 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 7.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
just after midnight tonight to a crest of 14.5 feet Saturday
morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday
morning.
- Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
14.2 feet on 05/22/2020.
