...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Virginia...
New River Near Galax affecting City of Galax, Carroll and Grayson
independent cities.
New River AT Allisonia affecting Wythe and Pulaski Counties.
For the New River at Galax, major flooding is forecast. For the New
River at Allisonia...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...New River at Allisonia.
* WHEN...From late tonight to Sunday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Several summer homes along the river are
flooded with possibly significant damage.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 7.4 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 7.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
just after midnight tonight to a crest of 14.9 feet Saturday
morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday
morning.
- Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
