Warning for the following rivers in West Virginia...Virginia...
New River At Glen Lyn affecting Giles, Summers, Monroe and Mercer
Counties.
For the New River...including Galax, Radford, and Glen Lyn...Major
flooding is forecast. For the New River at Allisonia, Moderate
flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...New River at Glen Lyn.
* WHEN...From late tonight to Monday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Significant flooding of trailer
campgrounds along the New River. Flooding on Caboose Lane in
Pembroke and Jason's Circle in Narrows.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 4:30 AM EDT Friday the stage was 8.0 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 11.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late tonight to a crest of 18.0 feet early Sunday morning. It
will then fall below flood stage Sunday evening.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
18.0 feet on 01/19/1996.
