* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Virginia, including the following counties and independent cities, in southwest Virginia, Craig. In west central Virginia, City of Roanoke, City of Salem and Roanoke. * WHEN...Until 1115 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 513 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain is exiting the area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain fell earlier today, resulting in areas of flooding across Roanoke and Craig Counties. Runoff will continue to collect in creeks and streams through the evening, and may cause additional flooding of roads. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Back Creek, Bee Branch and Barbours Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Roanoke, Salem, Vinton, New Castle, Catawba, Sinking Creek and Bent Mountain. - This includes the following locations...
