* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
following counties, Bertie, Gates, Hertford and Northampton and
southeast Virginia, including the following counties and
independent cities, City of Franklin, City of Suffolk, Isle of
Wight and Southampton.
* WHEN...Until 915 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 723 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in
Widespread flooding was reported across Southampton County.
due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.

Boykins, Chowan University, Suffolk, Woodland, Winton,

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement when you can do so safely. Request that they pass this
information to the National Weather Service.
