At Boiling Springs affecting Cleveland County. ...The Flood Warning is extended for the Broad River in North Carolina...South Carolina... Near Blacksburg affecting Cherokee and Cleveland Counties. .Significant flooding continues across the Broad River valley following historic 5 to 17 inch rainfall accumulations caused a stationary front interacting with tropical moisture and Tropical Storm Helene. The Broad River near Boiling Springs has crested while the river has broken the previous record set on February 7, 2020 downstream near Blacksburg. The river is cresting near Blackburg and the river will fall below Action/Advisory Stage by Sunday morning. Major flooding of several areas along the river is ongoing, including near Riverfront Dr, Broad River Highlands Dr, Scenic Ridge Dr, Waterway Dr, Broad River Dr, Ellis Ferry Rd, amd Old Ferry Rd. A few homes are inundated. * WHAT...Record flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Broad River In SC near Blacksburg. * WHEN...Until tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Minor Flooding continues. The Cherokee Falls Hydro Project operations may be impacted by excessively high flows. Floodwaters may be impacting access to the Cherokee Falls powerhouse and inundating residential yards adjacent to the river. *At 22.0 feet, Moderate Flood Stage. Floodwaters are approaching the Gaston Shoals powerhouse and extensive flooding of the adjacent parking lot and fishing access is ongoing. The Broad River is at levels similar to those that occurred in September 2004 due to Hurricane Frances. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:30 AM EDT Saturday the stage was 25.4 feet and nearly steady. A crest is imminent. - Action/Advisory stage is 13.0 feet. - The Broad River near Blacksburg has exceeded the flood of record of 24.18 feet set on February 7, 2020. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this evening and continue falling to 6.3 feet Wednesday evening. - Minor Flood Stage is 16.0 feet.
