...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in North
Carolina...
Broad River In NC At Boiling Springs affecting Cleveland County.
* WHAT...Major flooding. This approaches the flood of record.
* WHERE...Broad River In NC at Boiling Springs.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Major Flood Stage. The Broad River has
reached levels similar to those seen in August 1940. Devastating
flooding of numerous homes near the river within the Abe's
Mountain vicinity is likely underway. Significant and
record-level floodwaters are inundating lower elevation trails and
picnic areas of the Broad River Greenway.
At 24.3 feet, Record Flood Stage. The Broad River has reached the
maximum level of record, last achieved on August 16th, 1928.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:15 AM EDT Saturday the stage was 22.8 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:15 AM EDT Saturday was 22.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.0
feet late this morning. It will then fall below flood stage
early Sunday morning, and below bankfull stage by Sunday
afternoon.
- Minor Flood Stage is 12.0 feet.
Moderate Flood Stage is 14.0 feet.
Major Flood Stage is 20.0 feet.
