...Excessive Rainfall Associated with the Remnants of Hurricane Helene Resulting in Continued Flooding in Many Areas... * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected including the Bluestone River at Spanishburg. * WHERE...Parts of Mercer County. * WHEN...Until 1030 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. It will take several hours for all the water associated with the rainfall related to the remnants of Hurricane Helene. It will take some time, perhaps several days, for this excessive water to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1036 AM EDT, Gauge reports indicate that flooding continues along the Bluestone River near Spanishburg. At 1030 AM EDT, the Bluestone River near Spanishburg was at 14.9 feet, just below the 15.0 feet major flood stage. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. The river is continuing to rise and could well rise to around 15.5 feet later today before beginning a fall on Sunday. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Bluestone River, Rich Creek, Wolf Creek, Camp Creek, Indian Branch, Brush Creek and Blacklick Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
