Description:
* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall continues.
* WHERE...A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following
counties and independent city, City of Radford, Giles and Pulaski.
* WHEN...Until 500 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all
the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems
in urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 247 PM EDT, Emergency management reported flooding is
ongoing. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Dixon Branch, Big Macks Creek, Cecil Branch, Big Spring
Branch, Carper Branch, Adair Run, Craig Creek, Back Creek,
Crooked Creek, Broad Hollow Creek, Corner Branch, Connellys
Run, Bentley Branch, Altoona Branch and Big Reed Island
Creek.
Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Radford, Pulaski, Pearisburg, Dublin, Narrows, Pembroke and
Poplar Hill.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
