New River At Radford affecting Pulaski, City of Radford and
Montgomery independent cities.
...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Virginia...
New River Near Galax affecting Carroll, City of Galax and Grayson
independent cities.
New River AT Allisonia affecting Wythe and Pulaski Counties.
For the New River...including Galax, Allisonia, Radford, Glen Lyn,
Hinton...Major flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...New River at Radford.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow morning.
* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Water approaches the main road in Bissett
Park.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:15 PM EDT Saturday the stage was 22.7 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 3:15 PM EDT Saturday was 31.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
just after midnight tonight and continue falling to 3.5 feet
early Thursday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
21.7 feet on 09/23/1989.
