Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following
counties, Chautauqua, Elk, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho and Wilson.
* WHEN...Until 315 PM CST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Expect many
areas of slow moving or standing water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 319 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated pockets of heavy rain
due to training of rain showers and thunderstorms. Flooding
is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Parsons, Coffeyville, Independence, Neodesha, Fredonia,
Cherryvale, Caney, Oswego, Chetopa, Sedan, Altamont, St.
Paul, Thayer, Edna, Dearing, Altoona, Mound Valley, Moline,
Longton and Elk City.
Instruction:
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.
